Tourism in Paris - Key Figures 2018

2018 was a record year for Paris in terms of tourist numbers. The destination was in the spotlight more than ever with major sporting events such as the Gay Games and the Ryder Cup; a rich cultural programme at the Musée d’Orsay, the Fondation Louis Vuitton and the Centre Pompidou; films with a global audience, such as the sixth Mission Impossible and the second instalment of Fantastic Beasts, in which Paris is a prime location. So many opportunities to promote the many faceets of Paris and renew it appeal.

It is essential that the dynamics of tourist attendance be correctly interpreted so that the Bureau and its members can direct their actions as effectively as possible. This 17th edition of Tourism in Paris – Key Figures provides a deeper understanding of the evolution of Parisian tourism supply and demand. The crises experienced in 2018 in Paris, whether strikes or demonstrations, underline the importance of improving our monitoring of the sector and thus our ability to react to contain their effects.
